Hardcoat

A form of anodizing where aluminum oxide is deposited using an electrochemical process in sulphuric acid

In additive manufacturing, it is used to create a strong, smooth surface on aluminum parts as a post-processing step.

3D Printed masking may also be used as tooling in the hardcoat process.
